President's Message

Make Your Connection!

Hello once again! It's been awhile since my last message to members, and it is a fair assumption that things have been popping. We have been busy reviewing our communication tools and looking at ways that we can keep those lines of communications open. The one thing I noticed was that while I was writing to you, there was no real method for members or readers to respond back, therefore no way of measuring if the newsletter was doing it's job. It also came out infrequently, mostly because I not only wear the editor's hat; I also am now the president. 

So I am hoping that Members of BPW Durham will be able to enjoy and contribute to our new blog. It will serve not only as our newsletter, but also as a means for members to contribute to the club by submitting articles for posting, and hopefully participating in discussions regarding issues of interest for club members. 

Articles can be on a topic of interest or promote a business interest. Members can tell us about something that is happening with their business or at work. 

Currently, the blog will reside on the blogging site, Blogspot.com, but eventually will be moved to our own web space.

Speaker series and tradeshow showcases women in business
Wealth of information available and experts on hand

Oshawa – Businesses launched by women are the fast-growing sector of the economy. Women in Durham Region who own their own business or who are thinking of setting one up won’t want to miss a one-day speaker series and tradeshow on October 27, sponsored by the Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Durham.

The event on the theme, Showcasing Women in Business, runs from 9 am to 2 pm at Durham College in Oshawa.

Speakers include: Louis Kentris, RBC Dominion Securities, Randy Taylor, talk show host on radio station CFRB 1010; Shellina Ladhani from the Network for Women Entrepreneurs, Kathy McKay, President of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade and Anna Diduca, a 2006 YWCA Durham Woman of Distinction.

Throughout the day, there will also be a tradeshow featuring a range of businesses that will have table displays showcasing their products and services.

Pre-registration by October 24 guarantees a ticket, however registration is available at the door. Cheque, cash or money orders are accepted.
